I am kind of drunk, I apologize in advance for any grammar or spelling errors.

I need more tattoos, I just can't decide what I exactly I want. I know I want the the Notre Dame leprechaun because I am Irish, not Irish like almost all white Americans say they are Irish. Irish as in my Dad came here on a boat Irish. I also want an American flag on my right shoulder like we wear on our uniforms in the Army. I have narrowed it down to 3 choices.

1.

(Mrs Blacktrucks favorite)

Regular American flag on my right upper bicep in the same place as the flag on the US Army uniform

Kinja'd!!!

And ND Leprechaun on my left

Kinja'd!!!

2. My (favorite)

IR colored American Flag, like US military wears while deployed to combat zone. On right bicep again just like the uniform. With the same as above Leprechaun on left upper bicep.

Kinja'd!!!

3. (Also my favorite)

This Leprechaun on my right upper bicep and nothing on the left.

Which way round are you placing the canton (Union)? Some U.S. forces have the stars on the left where some have the stars on the right 'stars into the wind'.

"The U.S. Code does not address the positioning of the flag patch. It is appropriate to wear an American flag patch on the left or right sleeve. When worn on the left sleeve, the union would appear towards the front and the stripes would run horizontally toward the back. When worn on the right sleeve, it is considered proper to reverse the design so that the union is at the observer's right to suggest that the flag is flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward."

I wear mine subdued.

I was just thinking about this. I don't ever recall seeing anyone in the US military wearing the flag on the left. I have only ever seen it on the right with the stars to the front or some people wear it centered on their kit but not very often.

BTW, British military?

I've seen it a few times on the left but as you say, mostly on the right with some having it centred on their chest.

Just found this on Wordpress in regards to the flag, where and how it's worn.

http://americaforbeginners.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/why…

"The flag is worn on the right shoulder, because, in the military, the "place of honour" is to a military member's right."

It would be improper to wear the Union Flag (know in the naval services as the Union Jack) as the reverse would be the same as upside down which is a sign of distress.

There are many things with flag etiquette that are different from the U.K. and U.S.A.

I've been known to do some sight seeing in my time.

It depends on the service really. Overseas postings are good good way to see some of the world and will open your eyes and mind a bit to the rest of the world, so if you get a chance for an overseas posting, take it. Some countries (even the U.K.) can be a bit of a shock to some Americans but each service has a good support base to help integrate with your new surroundings.

Oh ya, definitely, I was kind of being sarcastic, my first 3 years were in Korea and I had a blast. If I wasn't about to get out I would be trying to get orders for Germany or Italy but, I will be out in about a year.

To go to overseas is a 3 year tour, so there is no way I can do it. I know not going to Europe will always be my biggest regret about getting out. But it's time to go.

Your not really missing a lot in Europe to be honest, to appreciate it fully you can't just got to a couple or so places, you need to go to a few. Maybe some other time in the future though.

When it's time to go, you've got to go. Good luck in the meantime and hope you settle back into civy street okay.

Cheers fella. I've done all my 'sightseeing', I'm working nightshift (okay it's a rubbish job but a good wage) and have some car cleaning during the day to relax. I'm all done with driving in convoys in the dead of night nervous about the next corner and people wanting to throw any form of explosive at me (it gets boring quite fast really).

Your more than welcome to visit the U.K. fella anytime.
